What if I told you the next global superstar is crafting bangers out of his bedroom studio in Southeast London? And what if I told you he’s already growing a cult following—without even dropping half of his unreleased heat? Welcome to the world of DAYØ, an artist who’s quietly building a movement one hypnotic melody at a time.
When DAYØ first realised he wanted to pursue music seriously, it wasn’t after a record label meeting or a viral hit. It was something much simpler—and far more powerful. “It was when I started getting positive feedback from my first song,” he recalls. “People were actually receiving my talent, and my family was supportive when they found out it was me making the music. I was like, nah, let me keep going.” And keep going he did.
From his roots in Lagos, Nigeria, to the streets of Southeast London, DAYØ’s journey is as layered as his music. Growing up surrounded by the vibrant sounds of Afrobeats during his early years in Nigeria, he effortlessly blends those influences with UK R&B and hip-hop to create something distinctly his own. “Afrobeats heavily influenced me. It’s one of the genres I enjoy making the most because it’s fun. I get to express myself in ways that are true to me—whether it’s using accents, tones, or even languages like Yoruba.”
But don’t box DAYØ in. His music is a melting pot of styles, and according to him, that’s what sets him apart. “Over almost six years of making music, I don’t think I sound like anyone else. It’s crazy, but I really do believe I’m a monster in my own craft. I’m finding my voice and space in the industry.” DAYØ isn’t just finding his voice—he’s sharpening his entire arsenal. Beyond writing and performing, he’s developing his skills in beat production and audio engineering, ensuring every sound is 100% him.
And then there’s his secret weapon: performance. His biggest influence? None other than Chris Brown. “Chris is not just an artist, he’s a performer. He’s inspired me to go beyond just creating music. I want to give people a full experience. I dance too, so I want my shows to be unforgettable. Not just standing on stage holding a mic for 30 minutes.” Another major influence is Odeal, whose versatility and rise in the scene mirror DAYØ’s own ambitions.
DAYØ’s energy isn’t just infectious—it’s inspiring. He’s proof that consistency, confidence, and creative freedom are the keys to breaking through. “A lot of people are scared to flood the timeline with their work. But if you believe in your music, you have to make sure people can’t ignore it. What people call corny could be another person’s gem. You’ll never know unless you put it out there.”
Even when he previews unreleased songs, the reaction is overwhelming. “People are always like, ‘Bro, why is this not out yet?!’ It shocks me every time because they mess with my music more than I think. It makes me more confident. Like, yeah, I’m doing something right.”
But DAYØ isn’t just focused on personal success. His ultimate goal? “To be widely successful and live off my music catalogue. I want to be a positive household name and inspire people to push through and follow their dreams.” In five years, he sees himself selling out shows worldwide and collaborating with his heroes—Chris Brown, Odeal, and even the late Aaliyah if he had the chance.
His journey started humbly enough in 2019. “My friend Bex saw a video of me singing on my private story. He invited me to his room studio the next day and told me to find a beat on YouTube and write something. That was the start. Since then, I’ve evolved creatively and built skills in audio engineering.”
But for all his progress, DAYØ is honest about still figuring things out. “It’s been a struggle, but I’ll get there. I have a unique voice and work process, and one day, people will confidently be able to tell you who DAYØ is.”
With his Southeast London roots and Nigerian heritage, DAYØ brings a global flavour to his music. And though he’s still on his come-up, one thing’s certain: he’s got the work ethic, talent, and vision to go all the way.
So, what’s next? He teases upcoming projects but stays tight-lipped. “Just watch this space.” .
And for any aspiring artists reading this, DAYØ’s advice is simple but powerful: “Never give up and never be afraid to learn. Take constructive criticism positively. You don’t know everything.”
DAYØ isn’t just another artist on the rise—he’s building a legacy. And if you’re sleeping on him now, you won’t be for long. Southeast London has birthed another game-changer, and his name is DAYØ.
